My name is David Nogosek, aka Sgt Nogk. I joined the United States Marine Corps in July, 1967 and was Honorably Discharged in July, 1973. I began this project, “Basic Facts of War, the Corps, and Patriotism” in the Spring of 2004 while I was on disability from an injury. Originally, I began just to jot things down on paper, but then it jelled into formulating them into a reference, and finally into this book.

The purpose of this book is to present my views in print, and to re-introduce the views of others important in human history. In other words, to re-awaken us as to what War really is, what Patriotism is, some of what the U.S. Marine Corps is, and what true Americanism should be.

A lot of this book is drawn from my own thoughts, feelings, past experiences; and from the thoughts and sayings of others throughout American and World History. Essentially, and after much research, this book was finished in five sections; i.e. ‘Basic Facts About War’, ‘On Patriotism’, ‘Americanism’, ‘United States Marine Corps’, and ‘Sgt Nogk Favorites’.

The quotes from others in this book are true and correct to the best of my knowledge and research.
